Vision

"Students across the world helping to disseminate the WHO Safe Surgery Checklist and partnering to improve healthcare quality"

Mission

The Safe Surgery Student Mentor Project exists to further the dissemination of the WHO Safe Surgery Checklist while engaging students in the broader discussion on healthcare quality improvement. The Project aims to:

a) Recruit Student Mentors to act as ‘awareness’ messengers of the Safe Surgery Checklist to other students and health professions schools

b) Recruit Student Mentors to act as ‘implementation’ messengers of the Safe Surgery Checklist to healthcare organizations and practitioners.

c) Recruit Student Mentors to act as ‘data collectors’ at the point of care

d) Develop and publish a toolkit of materials to aid students' efforts as listed above

e) Creating a library of case studies and other publications highlighting student-led dissemination attempts
